Phlebotomy Externship & Certification

Phlebotomy Certification

Externship

The phlebotomy programs include a built-in externship. A clinical externship is required in California in order to obtain state licensure. Because of our partnership with GCC Laboratories, our locations include an on-site lab so students can quickly finish the program and externship. Beware of phlebotomy programs that do not guarantee externships as it can result in a delay or not obtaining state licensure.

Certification

Tuition includes the phlebotomy technician certification exam through the AMCA. Once students successfully pass the phlebotomy class and externship and receive a certificate of completion, students are ready to take the national certification exam. Students who pass the exam may apply for state licensure CPT1 through the CDPH, Laboratory Field Services. Learn more about becoming a certified California phlebotomist here.
